Maintaining Relationships

Keep Showing Up Relationships don't maintain themselves. Whether it's family, friends, partners, teammates, or people in your community, strong relationships need time, attention, communication, and effort. It's easy to say: “I'll call them later.” “I've been too busy.” “We'll meet soon.” And then weeks or months pass.

we believe wellbeing isn't only about taking care of your body. It's also about taking care of the connections that make life meaningful.

Because a healthy life is not just about how long you live.

It's about who you share it with.

Relationships Need Movement Too

Think about a relationship like your body.

If you never move your body, it becomes weaker, stiffer, and less capable.

Relationships can be similar.

If you stop communicating, stop spending time together, stop checking in, and stop making an effort, the connection can slowly become distant.

Relationships need regular movement.

They need you to show up.

Physical Activity Brings People Together

One of the simplest ways to maintain relationships is to do things together.

You don't always need a dinner or a long conversation.

Go for a walk.
Run together.
Train together.
Play a sport.
Go hiking.
Stretch together.
Explore somewhere new.

Movement creates shared experiences.

And shared experiences create memories.

How Physical Activity Helps Relationships

1. It creates quality time

Moving together gives you time away from screens, work, and everyday distractions. You can talk, laugh, and simply enjoy being together.

2. It improves communication

Walking or exercising side by side can create a relaxed environment where conversations happen naturally.

3. It builds trust

Training with someone teaches you to support, encourage, and respect each other's limits.

4. It creates shared challenges

Completing something difficult together creates a feeling of connection. You experience the struggle, the effort, and the achievement as a team.

5. It strengthens your community

Group movement reminds us that wellbeing doesn't have to be a solo journey. Humans need connection, support, and belonging.

Don't Only Show Up When Something Is Wrong

We often reconnect with people when there is a problem.

Someone is struggling.
Someone needs help.
Someone reaches out.

But maintaining relationships means showing up before there is a problem.

Check in.

Ask how someone is doing.

Invite them for a walk.

Train together.

Celebrate their wins.

Be there during the ordinary days too !

Quality Over Quantity

You don't need hundreds of relationships.

You need meaningful ones.

And maintaining them doesn't always require hours of your time.

Sometimes it's:

“Want to go for a walk?”

“Let's train together.”

“How are you really doing?”

“I was thinking about you.”

Small actions can keep important connections alive.

The APE Relationship Challenge

For the next 7 days:

Choose one person you care about.

  • Send them a message.

  • Invite them to move with you.

  • Go for a walk, workout, run, or activity together.

  • Put your phones away and be present.

Ask yourself:

“Who do I want to keep showing up for?”

Then show up.

Final Thought

Strong relationships are built through consistency.

Not just big gestures.

A message.
A conversation.
A shared walk.
A workout.
A laugh.
A moment of support.

Movement gives us a simple way to connect while taking care of our health at the same time.

Take care of your body.

Take care of your relationships.

Keep showing up for the people who matter.

Because life becomes healthier, stronger, and more meaningful when we move through it together.
